I end up getting my news in the most surprising places sometimes.

Logo! is a ZDF children’s news show that my daughter likes to watch. We were watching this charming episode called ‘Was Geht Europa’ which was an introduction to all the countries in the EU (and how it works).

My biggest takeaway (probably because I’ve got a third-grader in the German school system) was that Estonia has the highest PISA scores. This might not be the only reason, but the one that stood out to me is that children stay in the same class with their classmates through tenth grade. They also study in peer-led groups and a lot of in-class learning is digital (this actually surprised me.)

Seems like a good idea to me. Shouldn’t we just copy-paste this model across the EU?

Watch the episode (in German) The bit about Estonia starts around the 20 minute mark.
