Came for the Techno, Stayed for the Healthcare*.

I moved from California to Germany in 1999. I came on a tourist visa with a fist full of Deutschmarks, a dial-up connection and an extremely vague plan.

When I’m not worrying about a full scale Russian invasion of Europe, kvetching with other internationals about German taxes for independent businesses, I run a boutique digital strategy agency.

Each Week: 3 things about Europe

  1. A round up of European news or an essay
  2. A cultural artefact (film, travel, trends)
  3. A meme

My goal is to make each newsletter readable in 7 minutes or less.

Why write about Europe and the EU?

The EU is now the last major bastion of liberal democracy, and it’s hanging by a thread. I’m a universalist. I believe we all need to care about the future of the EU. Before true change can emanate from Brussels, we need a deeper European consciousness from Lisbon to Bucharest.

Rich coming from an American I know, but there it is.

*I like techno fine, but that's not why I moved to Europe, I just like that joke. But healthcare is part of the reason I stayed.
